This rout can only be done with Dual sport bikes. It is one of the most amazing places to ride with lots of water crossing with the most amazing places to overnight, try the open rock cave… lots of fun and you sure to see lots of wildlife while riding. The longest water crossing is about 200m long with the deepest section about knee deep. Don't panic it is all doable but you need good riding skills as the road is all dirt and a section is classified 4x4 only, narrow with cliffs with no guard rails. If you in SA and you do not ride Baviaans…. You have mist out!! Allow 5 to 6 hours to complete this ride.
This route from George starts on the main roads and then goes off road at Riversdale to Witsand and then again to get to the chain ferry at Malgas and ending in Cape Aguhlas. A mix of surfaces but a great ride on a BMW R1200GS Adventure with Continental TKC80 tyres.
Nice long easy ride following the canals through farm lands. Courtesy of Malgat (R.I.P) and shared by Knop Knop
This is a bikers paradise when it comes to winding roads in quite good condition. Situated in pristine forest areas with old well preserved gold mining towns like Pilgrims Rest. Also in this area you will find places like Gods Window, Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, Bourkes Luck Potholes and many, many huge waterfalls. Look out for logging trucks on this rout, but if it is a combination of cornering and scenery you looking for…. This is it!
This rout runs through a canyon in the Swartberg mountain range and is very scenic with some good views. The road is in very good condition with some fantastic corners with very high cliffs face on either side. Also close to the Cango Caves.
