Probably the best road to have fun near Rome. The frist half (Tivoli-carsoli) is a straight-corner mix.In The second half (carsoli-colli di montebove) you find the best corner of central Italy.Few cars.Easy to scuff the knee.Camera near built up areas.Cheap traditional restaurant along the road.Have ...
I wanted to take that road straight way, but it was closed from Pacentro and locals send me through Campo di Giove. Road was closed also here, but in the way that is used also by locals. I rode through beautiful Passo San Leonardo and ate at
great Ristorante Collina Del Cavaliere at Caramani...
A very nice step to take to the Parco Nazionali di Monti Sibillini. A road with several enjoyable hair pins and spectacular views to steep gorges beside the road.
Spectacular twisty road runnig up to Terminillo Mountain (about 2000 metres). The landscape is stunning. Sometimes the road surface is very bad:potholes and undulation. For motorcycle touring.
Take S 80 out of or into Teramo. This takes you through the Gran Sasso National Park region. Wonderful scenery, great riding and a fair selection of places to stay.
It's an Roman empire road (Flaminia) very fast and very dangerous. But it's popular. Only for streetfighters (but Civita Castellana and Narni are nice).
I rode SS81 in September 2010 and sections of it were smooth, freshly paved tarmac. Plenty of corners to keep you occupied. The last bit before I arrived in Ascoli was especially twisty and entertaining. Just as much fun as the Alps with none of the traffic! Highly recommended.
From Tivoli to Arsoli is quite fast, pay attention to speed cameras and police. From Arsoli to Cervara more difficult till 1100m altitude. Then back to the valley to Via Subiacense, through Subiaco, always look for police and speed cameras. From Subiaco to Altipiani di Arcinazzo very enjoying track
A spectacular route through the hearth of the Parco Nazionale del Monti Sibillini. The best road to enjoy these incredible nice mountain views, including tight tornantes as well as wide-open upper plains. Very nice route and very interesting and variable to ride by bike.
