Shipping bike from Australia to TT 2018. Have 30 days after TT to travel Europe with destination being Trieste and bologna then return to Hook of Holland to catch ferry to Hull to ship bike out of Felixstowe.

Asking if any users can recommend routes that depart UK to Trieste returning to hook of Holland .

No set route, but do have a catch up in Hardegsen Germany at some point.

Keen to experience Alps roads , back roads ,Great Bike Roads, Bike friendly accommodation, and local Beer and Menu.

Wow, that will be a fantastic trip!

Your options for such a trip are more or less unlimited, you could go north for wild beauty, south for the sun or just east then west across some of Europe's most famous roads and mountain ranges.

I could give you an idea or two directly, but it would help a lot if you would let me know the following:

1) What kind of motorcycle you have
2) How much riding per day is ideal for you
3) What kind of traveller are you? i.e. camper, city centre hotel, loner, etc.

Thanks for reply David.
Riding Two up with Partner Wendy perched up on pillion seat of Ducati Streetfighter 1098.
Have not even considered time in saddle per day before your question.. Travel of 1000km in OZ in a day with time to pull up
before sun goes down is common when on a trip heading from A to B ,but thinking to slow up with 5-7 hours a day to get opportunity to experience what is on offer outside the helmets visor, rather than scooting past new experiences and local culture
Camping not a problem on occasions to enjoy outdoors but given a 30 day duration and not carrying a tent, just 30 ltrs of soft panniers, pub and indoors to rooms to have hot shower and take in local menu looks good for most nights.

Love those Ducati Streetfighters! I have a 999 and although it is a beautiful motorcycle, I slightly wish I had gone for a streetfighter instead. Anyway I digress......

5-7 hours a day two up on your bike with a mix of road types probably amounts to about 500 or 600k per day. Certainly on a long trip with two it is important to enjoy a balance of time riding and other activities. (as I am sure you already know)

So you have about 2 weeks out and 2 weeks back then. Let's assume you can travel about 7000kms each way in that time.

You really have a lot to work with and there are so many wonderful things to see and places to ride but if I imagine myself on such a trip I might consider the following:

Outbound part:

IOM - Lake District - Penines - Newcastle

(Insert optional Scotland Part here)

Ferry to Norway - Kristiansand - Fjords - Bergen - Oslo

Sweden - Stockholm - Ferry to Estonia

Baltic Countries - Tallinn - Riga - Kaunus

Poland - Warsaw - Krakow - Tatra Mountains - Slovakia - Bratislava

(Insert optional excursion via Budapest to Romania here)

- Vienna - Graz - Slovenia - Trieste

Return to UK part:

Italian Dolomites - Verona - Venice - Garda - Milan - Monaco

Geneva - Grenoble - Andorra (just for the mountains) - Barcelona

Across the pyrenees west towards Bilbao, Picos Mountains - Portugual

Porto - North back into to Spain then ferry from Santander to Portsmouth

UK - Cornwall - South wales - Cotswolds - Oxford - London - Felixstowe

This route takes in stunning natural beauty, the amazing variety of North, East, West and (to some extent) southern Europe in areas that offer fantastic motorcycling and amazing architecture, landforms and culture.

Of course you could do more (or less) but maybe that gives you some food for thought.

I can help you put together an actual route later in our discussion if you give some feedback on the idea.
